The Salvation Army of Buffalo believes that volunteers are an essential resource for our organization. They share their time and talents without any compensation, and we value each and every one of them tremendously. We look forward to working with our cherished group of volunteers as well as new faces from our WNY community in 2018.
Golden Age Senior Center – We are looking for weekly reoccurring volunteers in our Senior Center Monday-Friday anytime from 9:00am-3:00pm. Do you have a special talent you want to share with our members? Teach a painting, dance, workout, computer, arts & crafts, sowing, etc class in our senior center. Help volunteer to serve lunch, call bingo or volunteer for our monthly events.
Citadel Corps Kids Club – Every Thursday from 5:00-7:30pm volunteer as a tutor in our after school program. Help students complete homework assignments, work on arts and craft project and play games.
Employment Services – We are seeking educated professionals to share their knowledge and professional know-how with those seeking assistance with job search, resume building and developing their skill. Opportunities are available weekdays, from 9:00am-2:00pm.
Emergency Shelter – Join our children in the shelter for Friday Night Kids Night from 6:30-8:00pm. Bring arts and crafts, board games, movie or activity to share with the group of kids currently staying with us.
Street Feed – Every Sunday & Monday night October – April employees and volunteers pack our canteen with hearty meals and feed the homeless in downtown Buffalo. Join us on a Monday from 4:45-6:15pm and help hand out meals.
Food Pantry Volunteer – Volunteers needed to help bag groceries, stock cage with donations and help make follow up calls to our clients. Opportunities are available weekdays from 9:00am-3:00pm.
Special Event Volunteer (or Intern) – In 2018 we are hosting our Red Kettle Open and Buffalo’s Most Amazing Race. We are seeking a volunteer to do research and assist in coordinating the events. Hours are flexible. Great opportunity for a student intern!
Drop In Center – The Salvation Army of Buffalo is providing a safe place for youths to come socialize, get homework assistance and play games with their peers. Volunteers with special skills (such as dance, sports instruction or coaching, cheer, art, acting, resume writing, etc) are urged to apply. Drop In Center takes place Monday & Wednesday from 4:00-7:00pm.
Special Event Photographer – The Salvation Army of Buffalo has several events year round that need a volunteer photographer to help capture all the special moments. Times and locations can vary based on the time of the year.
Kensington Corps Kids Club – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00-6:00pm volunteer as a tutor in our after school program. Help students complete homework assignments, work on arts and craft project and play games.
Facility – Volunteer needed once a week Monday-Friday anytime from 12-4pm to help with upkeep - duties could include organizing, cleaning, painting, sweeping, etc.
Pantry Volunteer – Tuesday and Thursday 9:00am-1:00pm Volunteers can assist with stocking the pantry and making grocery bags for clients.
Monday night dinner service – Every Monday night from 4-6pm Volunteers can assist with dinner service to clients and neighborhood friends.
Facility – Volunteer needed once a week Monday-Friday anytime from 9:00am-4:00pm to help with upkeep - duties could include organizing, cleaning, painting, sweeping, etc.
Youth Activities – Tuesday 5:00-8:00pm volunteers can assist with youth activities and dinner service
Music Instruction – Wednesday’s 5:00-7:00pm volunteers with musical talent are welcome to join
Pantry assistance – Volunteers needed to assist with pantry organization Saturday from 10:00-12:00pm
